Position Summary:
The Trainer Assessor is responsible for development, delivery and assessment of accredited training and short courses. There are three main responsibilities of a Trainer Assessor. These are:
Training excellence ie the delivery of quality training and assessment that is customised to meet learner needs and is delivered according to a training schedule with appropriate commencements and completions. Regular learner evaluations will measure learner satisfaction and direct continuous improvement.
Training revenue generation. Training revenue is generated through course fee for service or government funding. Funding is generated through commencements and completion of units of competency.
Training course development. Trainer Assessors are expected to contribute to training course development within their area of expertise. This includes the development of Training and Assessment Strategies, assessment tools, learning resources and online courses. Trainer Assessors will be required to participate in the rewrite of resources as training packages are updated or to meet the requirements of a specific learner group.
Key Accountabilities:
Duties and responsibilities of the position include:
- Generate training revenue to cover “cost of seat”
- Design and development of engaging learning and assessment materials for both online and
f2f delivery - Delivery of customised learning that meets learner needs
- Support learners to achieve the learning and assessment outcomes
- Communicate with employers and students and provide progress reports
- Record and report learning achievements and keep rapt records up to date
- Follow policies and procedures to ensure compliance requirements
- Work within the team to achieve continuous improvement and collaborative objectives
- Engage in ongoing professional learning and industry engagement
Key Performance Indicators:
- Revenue generated through training to cover cost of seat
- Pass/completion rate is 80%
- Evaluation/satisfaction results for 60% of learners and indicates positive results
- Course development includes TAS/LLN assessment and assessment materials for courses being
delivered - Compliance requirements – participate in scheduled validations
- Commence and complete assessments according to the schedule
- Maintain Trainer Matrix
- Record a minimum of 20 hours PD yearly
- Provide support for other team members by delivering PD
Other responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with other members of the team
- Participate in moderation and validations
- Actively engaged in building relationships with industry and promoting courses delivered
Essential Qualifications:
The Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) Clause 1.23 (a) requires all trainers and assessors delivering TAE to hold one of the following qualifications:
- TAE50111/TAE50116 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training
- TAE50211/TAE50216 Diploma of Training Design and Development, or
- a higher-level qualification in adult education.
